Each student will have an individual support plan and will participate in group programming that feels like an extra-curricular activity but targets therapeutic goals. 

We'll focus on building:

  • Life skills like functional math: 

    • ​fractions for baking,

    • mapping, geocaching 

    • using technology to understand mathematical concepts,

    • measurement for building,

    • budgeting for grocery shopping, party planning, eating out.

  • Language skills

    • texting, typing

    • using talk-text devices,

    • Twitter,

    • blogging,

    • creative writing,

    • retelling stories, & summarizing content.

  • Social skills:

    • conversation skills,

    • using the phone,

    • online friendship building do's and don'ts,

    • interactive game-play,

    • self-advocacy and

    • leisure skills.

  • Sports skills:

    • physical fitness,

    • team sports,

    • rules of game-play,

    • sportsmanship, 

    • stamina, endurance, coordination.

This group will give pre-teen and teen girls a chance to explore a number of topics in a safe, and laid back space.We get it; the teen and pre-teen years are a time of questioning and growth. Join together with your new #girlsquad and explore these complexities in a safe, judgment free environment with a side of pop culture, social media, and collaborative learning. This group provides teens an opportunity to learn who they are while learning that they are not alone in the wild journey that

is being a teenager.

  • Communication skills,

  • social skills,

  • emotional awareness and

  • self-regulation,

  • coping strategies, 

  • behaviour management and

  • collaboration within a group.  

Through activities like:

  • Hands-on art projects,

  • dramatic arts,

  • music and movement,

  • mindfulness and yoga, 

  • facilitated interaction between peers

  • and interest based multi-media showcases.
